Whistler is the definition of a community where urban and nature are never far apart. And though you’re more than welcome to hop on a bike downhill and zipline in the summer, or heli-ski and snowboard in the winter, there’s still lots to do when it comes to the in between — those relaxing reprieves from real life that you search for on holiday.
Whether or not you spend a few days getting an adrenaline fix, or go 100 percent relaxation all the way, Whistler is a great place to unwind, so it’s time to pick your pleasure.
Play hot and cold at Scandinave
Relax with a taste of Scandinavia at one of Whistler’s favourite spas. Spend the day wrapped in a robe, switching between soaking in luxurious outdoor baths and plunging into ice cold pools. Enjoy a peaceful reprieve from the Village, nestled in the rustic nature of the spa — no phones allowed.
Looking for a more traditional spa? Check out these options.
Relax by the water
What’s more relaxing than doing nothing at all? Head to one of Whistler's beautiful lakes and relax on a dock or on the shore. Taking time to soak in the scenery is definitely rejuvenating, and if the weather's nice, you can more literally soak in the lakes' glacial waters. Top it off with a yoga class for a perfectly zen day.
Namaste next to a Monet
In the stunningly designed Audain Art Museum, work on your tree pose next to incredible works of art. Though your poses may not be worth capturing in a painting for all of eternity, the yoga classes aim to match the energy of the surrounding artworks. This event happens once a month, so be sure to mark the date down and unwind in a unique setting.
Nature is pretty relaxing, right? We think so. Step outside the hustle and bustle of the Village and take a walk to enjoy the surroundings you came for. Hit the Whistler Valley Trail by foot or bike and weave past lakes and over boardwalks.
If you’re looking to see a few more sights as you wander, try a public art tour. A self-guided affair, walk through the Village and the valley to art installations that inspire this community. Stop by the Village Host Kiosks or the Whistler Information Centre to grab a map to learn more about the creative spaces of the area.
Après, après, and more après
No matter the season, après is always the way to unwind. Head to a patio in the sunnier months or tuck away in a cozy restaurant when the temperature dips for an afternoon of imbibing. In both the Village and Creekside, you’ll find a ton of places to refresh yourself. Whether you’re feeling fancy (we recommend Bar Oso for tasty tapas) or are looking for a lower-key vibe (check out Tapley’s for beer and sports), Whistler delivers when it comes to taking a load off at the end of the day.
